4.5 stars for Reckless!!
I missed the Mason family so much so I was super excited to dive back into the craziness with Boone’s story! I loved the Boone Swoon!
Reckless is about Boone, one of the Mason brothers and Jaxi who crashes into his life. They meet when Jaxi accidentally breaks into Boone’s house instead of her cousins who lives next door to him. The way they meet is hilarious and from that moment I was super excited to read their story which made it even more interesting when it didn’t go as I thought it would!
Boone is everything you want in a hero, funny, charming, caring and an all around good guy. He’s sometimes seen as the not so serious one out of his brothers, but when he meets Jaxi, he immediately knows that she is the one for him and things start to change. He really steps up and becomes more responsible as the story goes on and all he wants to do is what’s best for Jaxi.
Jaxi unfortunately, hasn’t had a life as great as Boones, she was dealt a bad hand and grey up with people always letting her down and blaming their shortcomings onto her. This has made her think that she doesn’t deserve any of the good things that happen with her. But, that doesn’t change the fact that she’s super sweet and caring.
Jaxi and Boone are complete opposites but that is what makes them work. When Jaxi’s life gets turned upside down, Boone is there to help her and is an amazing person to have with her as she navigates this huge curveball thrown her way.
This is a slow burn, which really works with this plot. I appreciated that their romance was not all in straight away, especially after all the things Javi goes through. Boone gives Jaxi the space to work through her issues and doesn’t rush her at all.
This book has it’s funny moments but it really hit me emotionally at times and I had some tears in my eyes reading particular scenes. The balance of emotional and light hearted scenes was perfect though. Adriana has done it again and written a story that really touches you emotionally and that you can really lose yourself in.
I really loves Reckless, and with that ending… I can’t wait to read about the next Mason brother in, Relentless.
